YIELDING TO THE HOLY SPIRIT

May 21, 2024

Luke 4:1 Then Jesus, being filled with the Holy Spirit, returned from the Jordan and was led by the Spirit into the wilderness,

Jesus is the only man who yielded Himself to the Holy Spirit a hundred per cent; that is why He succeeded at everything He did.

The Christian life is not about our efforts or exertion of strength but yielding to the Holy Spirit for it is impossible to obey God without His help.

2 Timothy 3:16 All Scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness,

Scriptures are the sayings of God and He dwells in us in the person of the Holy Spirit to help us keep the laws.

In the Old Testament, Moses did a prophetic action when he broke the tablet into pieces, a declaration that no man can keep the commandments in the natural strength and power. Exodus 32:19

John 16:12-13

Jesus had so much to tell the disciples but they lacked capacity to receive and obey Him.

However, when the Holy Spirit came upon them, those who denied Jesus initially became empowered to obey God to the extent that they were willing to be crucified for His sake. Acts 1:8

We cannot obey and follow God using our human will, desire or efforts, we rather need the Holy Spirit.

God is so loving that He speaks His laws from heaven and then comes to stay in us to help us obey. Therefore, we fai because we have not yielded to the Holy Spirit.

Ezekiel 36:26-27 [26] I will give you a new heart and put a new spirit within you; I will take the heart of stone out of your flesh and give you a heart of flesh. [27] I will put My Spirit within you and cause you to walk in My statutes, and you will keep My judgments and do them.

God not only regenerated our spirits when we gave our lives to Jesus but also put His Spirit in us to cause us to walk in righteousness and obey His word.

If any believer is living in disobedience and a life that doesn’t honour God because they have not yielded to the Holy Spirit because the more you fellowship with Him, the more what is of Him begins to saturate your soul affecting your will, emotions and mind. 2 Corinthians 13:14, Romans 12:1-2.

John 15:4-5 [4] Abide in Me, and I in you. As the branch cannot bear fruit of itself, unless it abides in the vine, neither can you, unless you abide in Me. [5] “I am the vine, you are the branches. He who abides in Me, and I in him, bears much fruit; for without Me you can do nothing.

Can you allow the Holy Spirit to help you? How many things have you done without Him?

Remember, He is the “sap” that flows from the vine to the branch and from the branch to the vine but for Him to be able to manifest in the Christian life, you must yield yourself to Him.

What can attract the attention of heaven is the work of the Holy Spirit in your life which is only possible by us abiding in Him and vice versa; what we call fellowship. 1 John 1:3

Don’t look at praying, fasting, or seeking God as a burden because God is inviting us to a higher plane to fellowship with the Father, the Son and the Holy Spirit;  we come out of that place, every idea and implementation will be successful.

God wants us to be successful; that is why He said in His word;

Isaiah 55:11 So shall My word be that goes forth from My mouth; It shall not return to Me void, But it shall accomplish what I please, And it shall prosper in the thing for which I sent it.

You are born of the Word and you have its characteristics. Therefore, when Jesus sends you, you should not fail at anything because you are the sent word.

1 Corinthians 1:25-29

God’s foolishness is wiser than human wisdom and His weakness is stronger than human strength which is enough to humble us to cry to God for strength and wisdom.

John 21:18

The above scripture meant that the Holy Spirit would empower Peter to go to places he didn’t want to go naturally.

God loves us so much that He cannot permit us to go through things that He cannot help us to go through but all He desires is to yield to Him. 1 Corinthians 10:13

How do we practice that?

By reverencing the Word of God, you are reverencing the Holy Spirit because all scriptures are Spirit breathed. Let the word of God rule and be the final authority In your life. Isaiah 66:2

STAY BLESSED AND HIGHLY FAOBED, WE LOVE YOU.
