There are many things (distractions) that stand in our way and draw our attention in this journey of faith stopping us from staying on the course and manifesting what God planned for our lives.

Romans 11:4-5 But what does the divine response say to him? “I have reserved for Myself seven thousand men who have not bowed the knee to Baal.” Even so then, at this present time there is a remnant according to the election of grace.

“Behind me are seven thousand men: that is what makes me to serve God with fear and reverence because I know that God has not called me because I am the best but it is the election of grace.” This is the same heart that you should also carry.

1 Samuel 10:23 So they ran and brought him from there; and when he stood among the people, he was taller than any of the people from his shoulders upward.

King Saul thought that he was the tallest man in Israel until he met Goliath who was bigger and taller than him and this time round, Saul’s height was his disadvantage (1 Samuel 17).

Natural advantages have a limit; they can carry you for sometime but you will always find people who are better (taller, more skillful, more educated etc) than you are.

The entire nation of Israel was put to shame by Goliath because what they trusted in would no longer bring the results that it always brought until a seventeen year old boy (David) showed up.

1 Samuel 17:45-46 Then David said to the Philistine, “You come to me with a sword, with a spear, and with a javelin. But I come to you in the name of the Lord of hosts, the God of the armies of Israel, whom you have defied. This day the Lord will deliver you into my hand, and I will strike you and take your head from you. And this day I will give the carcasses of the camp of the Philistines to the birds of the air and the wild beasts of the earth, that all the earth may know that there is a God in Israel.

Everyone looked at David as a little boy but he knew whom he had trusted. David’s leaning was not in the physical weapons that he had but he had learnt early enough to have confidence and trust in God.

Where is your confidence? Is it in your beauty, bank account, height, job etc? You must learn to take your eyes off the distractions and let the fear of God be at the centre of your heart.

Galatians 3:1 O foolish Galatians! Who has bewitched you…

Many people begin well but get diverted along the way and they continue doing what they used to do but without the presence of God.

Remember, everything we do has zero impact in the realm of the spirit if God’s presence is not in it. That is why we must cry, pray, fast and lean on God because natural advantages have a limit.

Let nothing interfere with your relationship (fellowship and communion) with the Master because whatever draws your attention is a distraction and when you have been distracted, you will lose saltiness and men will trample at you (Matthew 5:13).

2 Kings 6:5-6 But as one was cutting down a tree, the iron ax head FELL into the water; and he cried out and said, “Alas, master! For it was borrowed.” So the man of God said, “Where did it fall?”….

Most of us have lost the axe head and we are no longer sharp like we used to be; what we think is ministry is no longer ministry.

Where has your love fallen? What is that distraction in your pursuit for God’s will? Remember God can only help you if you locate that place (Revelation 2:4).

Our God is a God of second chances: If you have lost the focus, be humble enough to admit, make up your mind like the prodigal son and go back to God and ask Him to bring you back to that place of fire, passion and commitment that you had when He was still your everything.
