Satan can never attack you or gain access to your life unless you give it to him by the things you do. Among the ways through which you can open up the door to the enemy include;
The Words You Speak: Matthew 12:36-37 [36] But I say to you that for every idle word men may speak, they will give account of it in the day of judgment. [37] For by your words you will be justified, and by your words you will be condemned.”
The biggest challenge for many believers has been speaking contradictory statements to what the blood of Jesus speaks. Words are legal documents that satan can charge you with before the courts of heaven. And your words are also key testimonies that the heavens can use against or for you.
Many of us pray well but say contradictory statements after praying; thus nullifying everything we prayed for. Remember, altars are not built by stones or bricks but by the speaking (words): righteous altars are built by righteous speaking, and evil altars are built by evil speaking.
Therefore, if you want to be free from unnecessary warfare, you must align your speech, talk and conversation with the Word of God and the speaking of the blood, so that the enemy has zero access to your life. (Numbers 23:21).
Teach your tongue to say things that are consistent with God’s Word so that the enemy does not take advantage of your speaking. Even if things are difficult, never agree with the enemy.
Anger: Ephesians 4:26-31 [26] “Be angry, and do not sin”: do not let the sun go down on your wrath, 27 nor give place to the devil.
Do not caress or toy with anger, as it opens the door for the enemy. If you are having a challenge with it, ask the Lord to help you, because it is an open cheque the enemy will use against you, and the more you continue being angry, the more it gives birth to things like bitterness, hatred, unforgiveness, etc.
The Bible says in James 1:20, “For the wrath of man does not produce the righteousness of God.” A man’s anger never works righteousness; only God’s anger does; so, be careful with it.
Sin
Sins are categorised into two: those that the Bible spells out as sins, and the personal instructions that the Lord gives us that we must obey. These become sin if you disobey, and the enemy will launch on that to gain access to your life. That is why we must close every opening the enemy uses to have access to our lives.
Job was so conscious of opening any door to the enemy that every time his children had a party, he could sacrifice and cry for them. He knew that what he had built was out of righteousness. (Job 1:18)
The Bible says in 1John 1:7 that “…He who practices righteousness is righteous, just as He is righteous.” If you are the righteousness of Christ, let it be seen in your works; do not participate in things you know are sinful.
Numbers 23:20, 31:16
When Balaam wanted to curse Israel, he looked for doors through which he would take advantage to launch a curse. He then said he couldn’t curse what the Lord has blessed. Without God’s permission, nothing can happen.
Balaam knew that the only way the curse could work was to lure the children of Israel into sin, and when that happened, a plague broke out in Israel. Please, stay away from idolatry, sexual immorality, covetousness, unforgiveness and all those sins of the flesh and pride of life because God does not tolerate sin.
Your staying away from sin must be because you love God; it is that love that will keep you away from doing things that grieve the Holy Spirit, not your fear of hell.
What are the things that help you to stay away from sin?
1. Living a repentant life. (Isaiah 66:1-2, Psalms 51:17, 1 John 1:6-7)
The only way you can keep yourself free from the enemy is to live a repentant life. God says, “…A broken and contrite heart-He will not despise” Contrition of spirit is the posture of a heart that leans towards repentance.
When we live, walk, and fellowship in the light of Jesus, there is a constant application of the blood of Jesus over your life. That is what contrition of the Spirit brings to a man’s life.
2. Consistent Praying in tongues (Zephaniah 3:9)
The devil does not understand tongues. Speaking in tongues will release confusion in his camp, disrupt the frequencies and jam his signals, hindering communication among the demons and making it possible to ambush them.
3. Consistent application of the blood of Jesus (Revelation 12:11)
The blood of Jesus is one of the witnesses that speak for you in the courts of heaven, and it is not only a covenant but a weapon that satan trembles at. When you constantly release the blood of Jesus with faith, it burns the devil.
Authority flows from union with Christ; whenever you speak from that place of union/oneness, the demons are dealt with. Be conscious of the truth that the legal authority, the blood of Jesus, did for you was to pick you from here and sit you in heavenly places with Christ. (Ephesians 2:6)
4. Praise and worship (Psalm 8:2, Psalm 22:3)
Praise and worship is such a powerful weapon that when done right, it silences the enemy. That is why you have to be careful with the songs you sing: they must be loaded with the Word, the blood of Jesus and the Name of Jesus.
Praise and Worship is one of the ways through which evil altars come down. Take an example of Jehosophat in 2 Chronicles 20:21.
5. The fear of the Lord (Proverbs 14:27, Hebrews 12:16)
Ask the Holy Spirit to fill you with the Spirit of the fear of the Lord. This helps you to avoid compromises because such open doors for the enemy. Esau lost his birthright just for a plate of bean soup. It is the fear of the Lord that will keep and preserve you.
6. A lifestyle of giving and generosity (Job 1:10)
A lifestyle of giving and generosity creates legal protection. Every time you give, you are creating a legal debt in heaven, and God is obligated to protect your source. Job was a generous giver; that is why God created a shield of protection upon Him.
7. Forgiveness
According to Matthew 18:34, unforgiveness hands you over to the torturers; do not nurse it. Unforgiveness and offence have delayed the deliverance of many people; that is why we must ask the Holy Spirit to deal with them and free our hearts.
May the Holy Spirit help us free our hearts from everything that the devil has been using as a point of access into our lives.
