2 Samuel 3:1 Now there was a long war between the house of Saul and the house of David. But David grew stronger and stronger, and the house of Saul grew weaker and weaker.
The devil knows that he has already lost, and the only way he can get to us and take advantage of us is by prolonging the war because we don’t have staying power.
When you fight something for so long, there is a demonic fog you experience: you begin to think that things aren’t working or God isn’t hearing and your perception of God’s response to your prayer changes. That is what the enemy has used to rob many believers of what is legally theirs.
That is why the Bible encourages us to have staying power. Paul admonishes Timothy: You therefore must endure hardship as a good soldier of Jesus Christ. (2Timothy 2:3)
Good soldiers are known for their endurance: they stand when everyone else is giving up—they have the staying power.
You must understand that we are not fighting to win; we are enforcing that which has already been accomplished. Therefore, you must have the character not to give up.
The devil is well aware that you are stronger than him. He can make noise, but you must have a revelation of who you are and whose you are. Identity becomes key to push further.
Ephesians 2:6
You are seated with Christ in the position of victory above all principalities and powers; all that you are dealing with is beneath you. You are dealing with forces that Jesus defeated on your behalf.
Christ left us with authority to enforce what He accomplished for you at Calvary. But if you don’t develop a backbone of steel, you will not walk in the victory that Jesus attained for you.
Luke 11:5-8 [5] And He said to them, “Which of you shall have a friend, and go to him at midnight and say to him, ‘Friend, lend me three loaves;… [8] I say to you, though he will not rise and give to him because he is his friend, yet because of his persistence he will rise and give him as many as he needs.
The man in the scripture didn’t give his friend because he was a friend, but because he insisted. There are things in the kingdom of God that you will never enjoy unless you learn to be persistent.
Persistence wears out resistance; stay at it, be persistent and consistent and don’t let the devil outlast you, but outlast him because he has already been defeated.
Matthew 12:21-29 [21] When a strong man, fully armed, guards his own palace, his goods are in peace… *[29] Or how can one enter a strong man’s house and plunder his goods, unless he first binds the strong man? And then he will plunder his house.
The Bible refers to satan as a strong man, fully armed with lies, deception and trickery that He uses to fight. That is why you can not just push him away. He has skills and tactics to fight you, but since he has your goods and what belongs to you, you must fight him.
This calls for you to identify the assignment against you and the target; for example, if the assignment against you is finances, the devil will target anything that causes you to lose money.
That is why specificity is key in winning spiritual warfare; we must correctly interpret the happenings in our lives, knowing that whatever God reveals to us is for our redemption.
