A portrait is an accurate depiction of a thing or a person or a painting that reveals the accurate position and face of a thing. When God wants to reveal something to you, he paints a picture which is an invitation to reality.

Abram was not the first person that God declared a blessing to but he was the first man who knew how to appropriate the blessing, he showed us how to follow and submit to God and he is the first man who showed us that you can be under God and make mistakes but if you keep following Him, you eventually get perfected.

Romans 12.2 And be not conformed to this world: but be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind, that ye may prove what is that good, and acceptable, and perfect, will of God. (KJV)

Even though you have been perfected in the spirit on earth, your soul is being saved and it is the engine room for the manifestation of the things that God has promised you in the spirit.

Proverbs 23:7

Thinking is not in the heart but a faculty in our souls. If the thinking is in the soul, then our thought patterns must be controlled. That is why the Bible encourages us not to conform to this world because the world has its own culture, mold, and set of beliefs.

What differentiates you from the people of the world that you are not of however much you are in the world? You are in this world such that you can reflect and represent your source. You are an accurate portrait of who God is.

Genesis 12.1-3 [1] Now the LORD had said unto Abram, Get thee out of thy country, and from thy kindred, and from thy father’s house, unto a land that I will shew thee:  [2] And I will MAKE OF THEE a great nation, and I will bless thee, and make thy name great; and thou shalt be a blessing: [3] And I will bless them that bless thee, and curse him that curseth thee: and in thee shall all families of the earth be blessed. (KJV)

The outline of the blessings that God gave Abram were; making him a great nation, blessing him, making his name great, making him a blessing (source on the earth), blessing they that bless him (privilege), cursing they that curse him and the entire earth would be blessed through him. Abram became the portrait of blessing on the face of the earth; his blessing was so powerful that Jesus had to come through his lineage (Matthew 1:17).

However, when God depicted the blessing on Abram, there were things that he had to follow. “Make of thee” is the process for becoming a portrait of blessing (verse 2).

The last time that God gave a man a blessing for free was in the Garden of Eden. God no longer raises a man and gives him everything (blessing) because he doesn’t know what it means to sustain it (be a guardian). The portrait of any blessed man is in the ability to be subject to the making of God.

Any man who wants to be a portrait of blessing must go through these three stages; ecstasy (pleasure) where we see your tendency, responsibility stage where your source and belief system are revealed and legacy stage, such that they no longer live for themselves. When God called Abram, the blessing wasn’t for him but he had to bear the nation.

Genesis 12:1-3

God wanted to bless Abram but on one condition; that he would live his country, kindred, and father’s house.

Many of us have refused to leave our families and dig our wells and yet that is the process that leads to the blessing. You must dig your wells if you are to journey with God.

In your journey with God, there will be a promise and after the promise, problems will come but your yieldedness (level of compliance) while going through that problem will determine your provision. Sometimes the problems we face are not as a result of evil altars but because of the prophecies that we have received from God: He is making us.

John.15.2 Every branch in me that beareth not fruit he taketh away: and every branch that beareth fruit, he purgeth it, that it may bring forth more fruit. (KJV)

You cannot tap into the blessing of God if you do not allow Him to purge you. The purging is the instruction that come to make you a better person because there are levels of anointing that you will never walk into unless you become compliant with God.

Genesis 11:27-31

God had told Abram to leave his father’s land to go to Canaan land but he had dwelt in Haran because of his father. It was after Terah (Abram’s father) died that he remembered what God had said to him.

The portrait of any blessed man is in yielding and submitting to God’s instructions. God is the only entity that will give you instructions without explanations and when you obey, the explanation begins to come out; those are the fruits of our lives.

Hebrews 11.8 By faith Abraham, when he was called to go out into a place which he should after receive for an inheritance, obeyed; and he went out, not knowing whither he went. (KJV)

You may not know where you are going but you only need to obey God like Abram. The portrait of any blessed man is in their obedience; that is what your life should be a product of for it (obedience) is the strongest currency of exchange in God.
