Matthew 9:37–38 Then He said to His disciples, “The harvest truly is plentiful, but the laborers are few. Therefore pray the Lord of the harvest to send out laborers into His harvest.”
Spiritual labor is much like the travail of childbirth. When the time comes to bring forth, it demands great strength, focus, and determination. The Apostle Paul used this same imagery when he wrote, “My little children, for whom I labour in birth again until Christ is formed in you.” (Galatians 4:19) Just as a mother must push until the child is delivered, so must every believer persevere until the promises of God are fully manifested. The journey of faith requires persistence, not passivity. There is no room for complacency or retreat, for “we are not of those who draw back to perdition, but of those who believe to the saving of the soul.” (Hebrews 10:39)
This is a season of harvest—the fields are ripe and ready, but the labourers are few. The harvest does not gather itself; it requires those who are willing to rise, pray, and serve faithfully. True labourers are those who give themselves completely to the work of the Kingdom, pouring their hearts into what God has called them to do. That is why Jesus calls us to pray to the Lord of the harvest, that He may raise men and women who will labour for souls, for their families, and for their nations.
To enter into God’s rest, one must first labour. Many never see the fullness of His promises because they stop halfway. Some stepped into the labours of others who grew weary or gave up before the harvest was complete. But the true labourer endures—faithful, diligent, and surrendered from beginning to end. (John 4:38)
The parable of the ten virgins reminds us that endurance and preparation determine who partakes of the reward. Though all waited for the Master, only the wise carried enough oil to last till His coming. Likewise, those who remain steadfast in prayer, faith, and obedience will experience the joy of reaping. For the God who brings to the time of birth will surely cause His children to bring forth. (Isaiah 66:7–9)
Jacob wrestled with God until he received his blessing. So must we persist in our spiritual travail—pressing on in worship, intercession, and obedience until heaven’s purposes are fulfilled in us. The harvest season calls for focus and surrender. When we yield fully to the Holy Spirit, He works mightily in and through us, empowering us to complete what God has begun.
Prayer: Heavenly Father, I have come to the place of birth. Strengthen me to bring forth all that You have ordained for my life. I surrender completely to Your will. Do whatever You desire in me and through me. Amen.
STAY BLESSED AND HIGHLY FAVORED. WE LOVE YOU.
