Matthew 6:24-25 … Therefore I say unto you, Take no thought for your life, what ye shall eat, or what ye shall drink; nor yet for your body, what ye shall put on. Is not the life more than meat, and the body than raiment? (KJV)
The prefix “the” before “life” changes the idea of the kind of life that God is trying to describe.
The Bible says in Revelation 12:11 that they overcame him by the blood of the Lamb and by the word of their testimony, and they did not love their lives to the death.
There is a specific type of death; if one died in that manner, it would please God. When Stephen was about to be executed in Acts 7, he did not deny the Lord. There is a type of life that never backs down, even when everything around it is not going well.
Matthew 6:33 But seek ye first the kingdom of God, and his righteousness; and all these things shall be added unto you. (KJV)
God wants us to understand the foundational things that define Kingdom life. In this Kingdom, there are majors and minors.
Do not become busy pursuing earthly things at the expense of your soul. Physical things are added, while eternal things are multiplied. Therefore, we should press on for eternal things.
Matthew 3:1-3 (KJV)
True messengers of the Kingdom do not manipulate others or point people to themselves for selfish motives. Instead, they make His path straight and point people to Jesus as John the Baptist pointed men to the voice of the One crying in the wilderness.
So, Kingdom life is one that connects you to the One who made creation. However, the biggest challenge in the body of Christ is that the path that leads to Jesus has been compromised.
By the time John the Baptist told the people to repent, they were engaged in all kinds of corruption: they spoke about God, but their hearts were wicked.
Matthew 4:17 From that time Jesus began to preach, and to say, Repent: for the kingdom of heaven is at hand. (KJV)
Jesus used the same phrase as John, but there was a difference in meaning. John the Baptist’s message pointed to the Lamb who takes away the sins of the world—indicating He was coming from afar—whereas Jesus meant that the Kingdom is near, within reach, just at an arm’s distance.
When we repent, God’s Kingdom comes and becomes a reality in our lives, and we are then able to partake of it.
Repentance is not only associated with sin but also with a change of mind—repenting of carnal thoughts. Can you say that the Kingdom of God has worked in your heart?
What is the Kingdom of God?
Romans 14:17 For the kingdom of God is not meat and drink; but righteousness, and peace, and joy in the Holy Ghost. (KJV)
Do you think God was unaware of the challenges humanity would face when He described the Kingdom as righteousness, peace, and joy?
It takes a transformed and renewed soul to remain at peace even when circumstances suggest otherwise. When a person reaches that place, then the Kingdom of God has come.
Hold lightly to the things of this world. Stop worrying and thinking that God has abandoned you because your needs are unmet, but instead wait while praising and giving thanks, knowing that the plans God has for you are good.
Matthew 26:29
Jesus went to the cross, died, rose again, returned to His disciples, and ate with them. This means that after His resurrection, the Kingdom He had spoken about was manifested, and now we are partakers with Him.
