1 Corinthians 6:17,20 17 But he who is joined to the Lord is one spirit with Him. 20 For you were bought at a price; therefore glorify God in your body and in your spirit, which are God’s.

Jesus loves us so much that He did not pay our bride price with the blood of animals but His own blood; He didn’t mind losing His life for us but to secure us, He also sent the Holy Spirit to indwell us permanently.

We are no longer our own; Our spirits have been married to Jesus as our husband. However, we must know that His love comes with a price attached to it; He can no longer share us with the world or any other spirit because we now belong to Him.

As the scripture says: Adulterers and adulteresses! Do you not know that friendship with the world is enmity with God? Whoever therefore wants to be a friend of the world makes himself an enemy of God. Or do you think that the Scripture says in vain, “The Spirit who dwells in us yearns jealously”? James 4:4-5

The problem with the church is that she fell in love with the world and forgot her husband (Jesus) who paid the bride price for her.

God is madly in love with us that He is going to cut off anything that makes us adulterers and adulteresses.

He is so jealous of us that when He moves into our lives in the person of the Holy Spirit, He removes everything that doesn’t belong to Him, then takes over territories and introduces what is of Him so that ‘as He is, so are we in this world’… 1 John 4:17.

It is God’s jealousy that moves Him to sanctify us and the Holy Spirit will never be satisfied until He has completely taken over. That is why the Bible says,

Now may the God of peace Himself sanctify you completely; and may your whole spirit, soul, and body be preserved blameless at the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ. 1Thessalonians 5:23

Most of us have only given the Holy Spirit our spirits (his dwelling place) yet He also wants our souls (minds, will and emotions) and bodies to come under His influence.

The life of a believer is a life of surrender. The degree to which we surrender to Him determines how much He will manifest His power and glory in our lives.

God is calling us to surrender and allow Him to make adjustments and decorate our lives such that when people look at us, they see the Jesus who dwells in us.

In Matthew 26:10,
the disciples called it a waste when the woman located Jesus, broke and poured out her oil on Him but Jesus spoke well of her. The best thing we can do in response to God’s love is to waste ourselves on Him and allow Him to take over our lives.

Remember, according to Exodus 34:14, the Lord, whose name is Jealous, is a jealous God. May He never find a foreign god taking His place in our lives that will provoke His jealousy to consume us.
