THE IS NO SUBSTITUTE FOR THE PRESENCE OF GOD

Aug 30, 2024

Throughout the scriptures, every time the children of Israel became prosperous, they abandoned God. This is typical of believers today; when everything is fine, we relegate God and when things start going south, we run back to Him.

Many of us do not have a genuine desire for the Master, all we are looking for is what He can do for us but if we want to journey far with Him, we must divorce ourselves from this hypocrisy, pretence and showbiz.

John 4:15 The woman said to Him, “Sir, give me this water, that I may not thirst, nor come here to draw.”

The Samaritan woman argued with Jesus until she asked for that water that she would drink and never thirst again.

I don’t know what substitutes have dampened your desire and longing for God but the Lord is calling us back to that place of genuine hunger and desire for Him.

2 Chronicles 12:9-10… He also carried away the gold shields which Solomon had made. Then King Rehoboam made bronze shields in their place, and committed [them] to the hands of the captains of the guard, who guarded the doorway of the king’s house.

King Rehoboam replaced the taken golden shields with bronze ones. What have you substituted the presence of God with? I challenge you to check yourself if you still have a sincere longing for God or if something else has taken over.

Galatians 3:1‐3 [1]O foolish Galatians! Who has bewitched you that you should not obey the truth, before whose eyes Jesus Christ was clearly portrayed among you as crucified?

3 Are you so foolish? Having begun in the Spirit, are you now being made perfect by the flesh?

You began by sincerely longing and desiring for God but now you are being controlled by the flesh and carnality. Things like cars, marriage, money, children, careers, and even ministry, have taken over.

Don’t wait till it’s too late. There is no substitute for the presence of God. The presence of God is God Himself manifested within our senses. He desires to reveal Himself but He has to prove your love, hunger and thirst for Him.

Jeremiah 29:13 And you will seek Me and find [Me,] when you search for Me with all your heart.

The Bible tells us to seek the Lord with all of our hearts because there are people who are not after His heart but what He can do for them. What is your heart after?

There is nothing wrong with the hand (miracles) of God but the problem is when we focus on them instead of Jesus. You can sing all the beautiful songs, pray all the nice prayers but if all your heart is not in it, yet He looks at the heart.

May the Lord open our eyes to see such that we may honestly call on Him to undo us like Isaiah. (Isaiah 6:8)
