1 Corinthians 11:23 (MSG) Let me go over with you again exactly what goes on in the Lord’s Supper and why it is so centrally important. I received my instructions from the Master himself and passed them on to you. The Master, Jesus, on the night of his betrayal, took bread.

1 Corinthians 11:24-25 (MSG) Having given thanks, he broke it and said, This is my body, broken for you. Do this to remember me. [25] After supper, he did the same thing with the cup: This cup is my blood, my new covenant with you. Each time you drink this cup, remember me.

Jesus Christ should be our primary focus as we take the Holy Communion and the elements of the Communion as our points of contact.

Each time you take the Holy Communion, forget about everything else happening around you and ‘Remember Jesus Christ’.

1 Corinthians 11:26 What you must solemnly realize is that every time you eat this bread and every time you drink this cup, you reenact in your words and actions the death of the Master. You will be drawn back to this meal again and again until the Master returns. You must never let familiarity breed contempt.

You ought to approach Holy Communion with reverence and honour, and not religiously, to benefit from it, otherwise it will be a breaking of fast.

Since God gives us instructions for taking it, its benefits must be beyond our comprehension.

Numbers 21:8 (MSG) God said to Moses, “Make a snake and put it on a flagpole: Whoever is bitten and looks at it will live.”

If men who were bitten would live having looked at the serpent Moses raised, which was a shadow, how much more with the real substance?

As we take the Holy Communion and look unto (remember) Jesus Christ, dead things will live in our lives.

1 Corinthians 11:27-28 (MSG) Anyone who eats the bread or drinks the cup of the Master irreverently is like part of the crowd that jeered and spit on him at his death. Is that the kind of “remembrance” you want to be part of? Examine your motives, test your heart, come to this meal in holy awe.

We should approach the Holy Communion in holy awe to draw its benefits.

Psalms 105:37 He also brought them out with silver and gold, And there was none feeble among His tribes.

God delivered the Israelites from Egypt with silver and gold, and none was sick because they honoured the Passover meal. Every sickness went away when they took the meal because the Lord knew they were to start a journey that required them to be strong.

Taking Holy Communion can drive every weakness and sickness out of your life. If the Israelites were healed by the blood of bulls, lambs, and goats, how much more is the blood of Jesus? Do not just eat and drink the communion, place a demand on it.

1 Corinthians 11: 29-32 (MSG) If you give no thought (or worse, don’t care) about the broken body of the Master when you eat and drink, you’re running the risk of serious consequences. That’s why so many of you even now are listless and sick, and others have gone to an early grave. If we get this straight now, we won’t have to be straightened out later on. Better to be confronted by the Master now than to face a fiery confrontation later.

The taking of the Holy Communion is able to prevent you from dying prematurely, getting sick, and being weak. But we need to have a revelation that the elements you are using are not mere bread and juice but the body and blood of Jesus Christ (John 6:55 TPT).

The pagans understand the communion of meals: when they want to contact evil spirits they use meals. If the church can capture the revelation of the Holy Communion, we shall contact the Holy Spirit who can bring healing and deliverance to our lives and free us from all forms of sickness.
