There are three things we need to consistently practice so we can endear the presence of the Holy Spirit to rest upon our lives.

  1. The Lord Being With You

Genesis 39:2-3 The Lord was with Joseph, and he was a successful man; … 3 And his master saw that the Lord was with him and that the Lord made all he did to prosper in his hand.

The key factor that brought in everything else in Joseph’s life, especially in Egypt: the favour credited to him is attributed to the Lord being with him. Whether in Potiphar’s home, prison, throne, etc. the Lord was with him.

Just like the Lord Jesus, Joseph practised something that encouraged the endeared presence of God upon his life and distinguished him wherever he went. (John 14:10)

This makes a difference in our lives irrespective of where we are planted or placed; as long as God is with us success is guaranteed.

  1. Brokenness

Ephesians 4:30 And do not grieve the Holy Spirit of God, by whom you were sealed for the day of redemption.”

1 Thessalonians 5:19 Do not quench the Spirit.

Living a life of brokenness is key to attracting the help of God. (James 4:6) Pride sets you for destruction as it causes the presence of God to be withdrawn from you.

You need to pay close attention to the attitude that flows out of your heart so you don’t become a victim of your own making.

  1. The Little Foxes

Song of Songs 2:15 Catch us the foxes, The little foxes that spoil the vines, For our vines have tender grapes.

What are these little foxes in our lives? What is small today can become a big thing tomorrow that the enemy will use to take you out, and you find yourself behaving in a manner that you wouldn’t have.

Read About Noah Genesis 9:20-26:

Genesis 9:21 Then he drank of the wine and was drunk, and became uncovered in his tent.

Noah had a drinking problem: I think it was a little challenge that eventually grew. One day he drank himself silly, undressed himself, and cursed his child, his legacy.

That is what happens when men allow certain things which God has spoken to them to deal with, to grow that they begin to exhibit certain mannerisms that affect the next generations.

Psalms 139:23-24 Search me, O God, and know my heart; Try me, and know my anxieties; 24 And see if there is any wicked way in me, And lead me in the way everlasting.

Examine yourself; are there things that are hidden/submerged and only waiting for the right occasion to spring out? This is the time to break before God and tell Him: “There are little foxes in me, I pray that You may pluck them out of my soul and deliver me.”

Let the Lord strengthen you so that the enemy cannot take advantage of that “little fox” to fight you.

Read about Lot Genesis 19:30-38

Genesis 19:32 Come, let us make our father drink wine, and we will lie with him, that we may preserve the lineage of our father.”

Lot could drink a little, but one day he drank himself silly that he slept with his daughters. Something small gave birth to the Ammonites and Moabites, who eventually persecuted and became a thorn in the flesh of the covenanted Israelites. 2 Chronicles 20:20 Solomon fell victim to his ‘womanizing’. (Proverbs 20:1)

People have lost destinies, friends, marriages, careers, etc. because they failed to get rid of the little foxes. Any undesirable mindset, attitude, habit, etc. Those are the foxes that will destroy you despite the control you seem to have now.

Prayer is one of the spiritual protocols the Holy Spirit uses to transform our lives; this is where we yield to His pruning and receive grace and mercy. Hebrews 4:16
