REVERENTIAL FEAR OF GOD

Oct 7, 2024

Genesis 6:5-6 [5] Then the LORD saw that the wickedness of man was great in the earth, and that every intent of the thoughts of his heart was only evil continually. [6] And the LORD was sorry that He had made man on the earth, and He was grieved in His heart.

God can reject a man that He chose. Take the example of Saul who was rejected by God however much he was His choice. (1Samuel 16:1)

In Genesis 19, God gave a simple instruction to Lot and his wife to run and not look back, but Lot’s wife looked back and she became a pillar of salt.

The God who planted Adam and Eve in the Garden of Eden is the same God who kicked them out; (Gen 3:24).

He can still kick us out from wherever He has planted us. That is why we need to be careful in our walk with Him: walking reverently and never getting familiar.

Daniel 4:1-37
King Nebuchadnezzar took the warning from God for granted until the word was fulfilled and he started eating grass like oxen for seven years.

God’s standards have not changed. That is why we need to cry out to the Holy Spirit to harness us with the Spirit of the fear of God because God can still regret why He put you wherever He did.

That is why David always cried to God; “Let the words of my mouth and the meditation of my heart Be acceptable in Your sight “. Psalms 19:14.

David was a man after God’s heart because he was willing to lose everything to be right with God.

Honour, awe and the fear of God must return to our hearts if we are to walk with God because certain levels of manifestation demand higher levels of consecration.

Genesis 22:12 …..for now I know that you FEAR God, since you have not withheld your son, your only son, from Me.”

The test that we fear God is when we can give Him what we can’t give to ourselves because there is a certain level of giving that can only be attained by the fear of God.

It is the same spirit of the fear of God that was spoken of Joseph while he was in Potiphar’s house. There are things that we’ll not do not because someone is watching us but because the fear of the Lord is our restraining power.

Genesis 6:8 But Noah found grace in the eyes of the LORD.

We have all found grace in the eyes of God to preserve a generation. God doesn’t think about cars or houses but His heart is for people.

He made man in Genesis 1:26 upon the earth because His method of intervention is man.

Genesis 8:20-21 [20] Then Noah built an altar to the LORD, and took of every clean animal and of every clean bird, and offered burnt offerings on the altar. [21] And the LORD smelled a soothing aroma. Then the LORD said in His heart, “I will never again curse the ground for man’s sake, although the imagination of man’s heart is evil from his youth; nor will I again destroy every living thing as I have done.

After the flood had destroyed the whole earth apart from Noah and his family, to start afresh, Noah raised an altar first.

No matter how devastating things are, there is a system that we can use to start afresh and bring about change; “Raise an altar first.”

God has given us an instruction this month of October: to raise an altar in the city to secure the future of our families, children, nation, etc.
