RETURN TO REAL CHRISTIANITY

Aug 16, 2024

Revelation 2:2-4 “I know your works, your labour, your patience, and that you cannot bear those who are evil. And you have tested those who say they are apostles and are not, and have found them liars; and you have persevered and have patience, and have labored for My name’s sake and have not become weary. Nevertheless, I have [this] against you, that you have left your first love.

It is possible to come to a place in your walk with God where everything you do is superficial and purely from the brain.

It is easy to find yourself backslidden without knowing, that is; being caught in spiritual activities, but when the life (fire, passion, zeal, love) has left. Sometimes, our experience(s) with God can become an enemy to our walk with Him; we need to cry to Him to help increase our sensitivity.

Romans 12:11 Do not be slothful in zeal, be fervent in spirit, serve the Lord. (ESV)

This scripture shows us that it is simple for a believer to lose the fire but continue doing what they used to do; that is the most painful place to be.

Is your heart impacted by whatever you do? If your heart isn’t in it, it is wisdom to ask Jesus to restore you to that place where you do not just speak words from your brain but what flows from your heart. God doesn’t only look at the performance but the heart behind it.

2 Chronicles 25:2 And he did [what was] right in the sight of the LORD, but not with a loyal heart.

King Amaziah did everything right but his heart was not in it therefore God did not recognise it. You can preach, pray, fast, give, etc., but when it does not come from the place of intimacy, love, and passion,

Revelation 3:15-16
God is not interested in lukewarm relationships, service, prayer, etc. He is a God of extremes, you are either hot or cold.

I pray that the Lord delivers each of us from presumption and that we develop sensitivity rather than deal with Him based on experiences.

Revelation 3:20 Behold, I stand at the door and knock. If anyone hears My voice and opens the door, I will come into him and dine with him, and he with Me.

Have we arrived at that place where we are caught up in activities but it’s no longer about Jesus? Jesus was standing outside but service was going on as usual.

We need to return to that place where Jesus is the reason and cause of any spiritual activities we engage in.

Assignment:
