Acts 13:2-3 As they ministered to the Lord and fasted, the Holy Spirit said, “Now separate to Me Barnabas and Saul for the work to which I have called them. [3] Then, having fasted and prayed, and laid hands on them, they sent them away.”

Ministering to the Lord means taking the focus off your needs, troubles, and burdens and just worshipping God for who He is.

For many of us, our orientation is intercession, supplication, and spiritual warfare with little understanding and knowledge of ministering unto the Lord yet it is the easiest way to tap into God’s frequency and hear the voice of the Holy Spirit.

 Matthew 15:21-28

The Canaanite woman understood this better, she was not part of Jesus’ defined mission but she had a need, identified the healer and cried out to Him, fell on His feet,

worshipped, shifted from praying and just began to minister to Him. That’s why we must learn to shift from a place of warfare to honouring God for Who He is.

Luke 2:36-38 [36] Now there was one, Anna, a prophetess, the daughter of Phanuel, of the tribe of Asher. She was of a great age, and had lived with a husband seven years from her virginity; [37] and this woman was a widow of about eighty-four years, who did not depart from the temple, but served God with fasting and prayers night and day. [38] And coming in that instant she gave thanks to the Lord, and spoke of Him to all those who looked for redemption in Jerusalem.

Ministering unto the Lord is the key to revelation and one of the ways we can seek Him. That’s why Anna could not leave the temple.

David did the same; When you read throughout the book of Psalms you discover that one of the things that endeared David to God was his secret of ministering unto God.

We minister to God through our thanksgiving, praise, worship and surrender into His arms.

God has been good and faithful to you, He has done many things; if you are appreciative, your heart should be overflowing with gratitude, thanksgiving and celebration of His goodness, grace, and mercy.

Many believers are so taken up by their troubles they easily forget what the Lord has done. This is what killed an entire generation in the wilderness. Gratitude is the platform on which a believer stands to make their request and petition unto the Lord (Philippians 4:6-7).

Even accessing the Lord’s presence is by His mercy and grace. The spirit of entitlement is our biggest danger. None of us is entitled to anything, it’s the sheer grace and mercy of God that has enabled us to be where we are.

Malachi 1:2-3, Romans 9:15-16

Even in times of prayer and fasting, don’t front them as a platform for God to hear you because He enables you to pray and fast.  Never take for granted what the Lord has and is still doing. When you sit down and deeply meditate on these truths, your heart will overflow with the goodness of the Lord.

Philippians 1:6 being confident of this very thing, that He who has begun a good work in you will complete it until the day of Jesus Christ;

Do not fret or worry, throw yourself in His arms for He shall perfect all that concerns you (Psalms 138:8).

Rest in Him, looking unto Him, the author and finisher of your faith (Hebrews 12:2). Do not allow life to press you so hard that you become bitter and lose your praise, worship, and celebration of God’s goodness.

Do not give the devil room to raise affliction on you. Let your praise and worship remain constant. The Lord is too faithful to disappoint you; He can never mismanage your destiny as long as you return to His arms.

This is what God is calling us to do; To minister to Jesus. Involve your heart in discovering the secret of ministering unto the Lord.
