Psalm 127:2 It’s useless to rise early and go to bed late, and work your worried fingers to the bone. Don’t you know he enjoys giving rest to those he loves? (MGS)
Man is a creature of God’s presence. Any achievement or success outside God’s presence will never bring you fulfilment or satisfaction. True rest is only found in the presence of God.
Unfortunately, we have many tongue-speaking believers in the church today who are restless. They seem to have no joy and peace because they are chasing after worldly things, thinking fulfilment and satisfaction are in the mundane things of this life.
The greatest tragedy that befell man when Adam and Eve fell was being driven away from the presence of God. That is when every carnality and evil took hold of man’s soul and from that day, the world has been going in reverse gear.
Matthew 11:27-28 All things have been delivered to Me by My Father, and no one knows the Son except the Father. Nor does anyone know the Father except the Son…
[28] Come to Me, all you who labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest.
How many are weary and heavy-laden in the church? The reason why you have no rest is because you have not come to Jesus but church. When you meet Jesus, you will know rest.
Restlessness is an alarm to the Spirit inside informing you that your location is not right. God’s presence is the only place you will know true rest, peace, fulfilment, and calmness in your soul.
As we seek the face of the Great I AM, we come to the place of exchange where we receive His burden, take upon us His yoke, and give Him ours.(Matthew 11:29-30, Hebrews 12:1)
Matthew 12:8. For the Son of Man is Lord even of the Sabbath.”
Jesus is our sabbath and rest. Sabbath is not in a day but in the person of Jesus. You will know you have arrived when you begin to walk in the rest of God. (Exodus 33:14)
There is a place where you can do business, ministry, or whatever profession you are in, it is called the rest of God and is domiciled in His presence.
Whatever God assigned Adam to do was in His presence. Whatever assignment God has given you is in His presence. Anything you do outside the presence of God becomes a burden. Be intentional, reach out by faith, and tell Him, “Lord, I remove every yoke that is not of You and take on Your yoke.”
Psalm 42:1-10
David equates his hunger for the presence of God to a deer panting for water. He knew that rest is not in the shout, song, jumping, or preaching but in the presence of God.
There is no substitute for the presence of God. Some believers think rest is found in marriage, promotion, job, money, etc., but there is no rest outside His presence.
Even as we seek the Lord through prayers and fasting, let us ask the Lord to give us His desire. Tell Him, “Lord, let my heart be an expression of Your heart’s desire, I want to desire Your desire and want Your want.”
