OUR FOOD IS TO DO THE WILL OF OUR FATHER

Oct 23, 2023

John 4:34 Jesus said to them, “My food is to do the will of Him who sent Me, and to finish His work.

What energized Jesus was to do the will of the Father. That is why when He was teaching on Lord’s prayer, He said; ” May Your will be done on earth as it is in heaven” (Luke 11:2).

What is God’s will? God’s will is His plan. May God’s will find expression and manifestation through your life.

Ephesians 5.15-17 [15] See then that you walk circumspectly, not as fools but as wise, [16] redeeming the time, because the days are evil.[17] Therefore do not be unwise, but understand what the WILL OF THE LORD IS.

Our life is about knowing and understanding the will of God.

When we understand His will, it will help us from falling and dictating everything in our lives including friends we associate with, the things that we do, where we go, etc.

Remember God is only obligated to work where His will is being done; He withdraws from anything that is outside His will.

So don’t allow people or activities around you to sidetrack you from what God has called you to do however good it may look. Whoever or whatever comes between you and God wants to kill you.

Matthew 16:21 From that time Jesus began to show to His disciples that He must go to Jerusalem, and suffer many things from the elders and chief priests and scribes, and be killed, and be raised the third day.

Jesus’ primary assignment was to die on the cross and from day one, He longed for that day. All that happened were side shows but He came primarily for the cross.

There is a primary assignment in your life; don’t engage in sideshows but find it out and begin to walk into it.

Good doesn’t necessarily mean God. You don’t have to engage in good works but God works and it comes by you knowing the will of the Lord.

Matthew 16.22-23 [22] Then Peter took Him aside and began to rebuke Him, saying, “Far be it from You, Lord; this shall not happen to You!” [23] But He turned and said to Peter, “Get behind Me, Satan! You are an offense to Me, for you are not mindful of the things of God, but the things of men.”

As Jesus was telling the disciples about His primary assignment, Peter interrupted Him and He replied, “Get behind me satan”. You must excuse anyone who pushes you away from what you know is God’s will for your life.

Peter’s burden was not God’s; He was more mindful of the things of men than the things of God. If you value the help of God and are interested in seeing the hand of God in your life, then you will engage God’s will for your life.

God’s help only comes to those who are in His will because the will of God promotes the purpose and kingdom of God.

Galatians 5:16-17… For the flesh lusts against the Spirit, and the Spirit against the flesh; and these are contrary to one another, so that you do not do the things that you wish.

We must fight this battle; never allow self to win this battle.

John the Baptist was raised to reveal Jesus and when He was done, he was beheaded. He was prepared in the wilderness for thirty years but his ministry lasted for six months and he went to heaven after he had revealed Jesus. He told his disciples;

He must increase, but I must decrease. John 3:30

What degree of “I” are you having now? We must see more of Him and less of you.

The flesh you are fighting is self (I) and wants to have its way. You can only be useful in the hands of God if your will is submitted to God’s.

Luke 22:42-43 means Jesus had His will (taking away the cup from Him) but He preferred God’s will to His; that is why He submitted to it and when He made that prayer, the angel showed up and strengthened Him.

Every time you are in God’s will, help will always come to you and no matter the forces and opposition, you will always emerge on top.

Matthew 11:28-29 [28] Come to Me, all you who labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest. [29] Take My yoke upon you and learn from Me, for I am gentle and lowly in heart, and you will find rest for your souls.

Being heavy-laden means being burdened with the things of men. That was the same thing that was bothering Martha; she was burdened by the things of men unlike Mary who decided to sit at the feet of Jesus and listen to His word (Luke 10:38-42).

Jesus’ word is His will for your life. When you are yoked with His yoke, you will go where He goes and He will carry the biggest burden; your work is to stick to the will of the Father and follow Him.

STAY BLESSED AND HIGHLY FAVORED. WE LOVE YOU.
