Hebrews 12:2 looking unto Jesus, the author and finisher of [our] faith, who for the joy that was set before Him endured the cross, despising the shame, and has sat down at the right hand of the throne of God.

As long as you do not keep your eyes on Jesus, the temptation to look away from Him to what is not going right in your life is very high. We draw this truth from the experience of the children of Israel in the book of Numbers.

Numbers 21:5-6 And the people spoke against God and Moses: “Why have you brought us up out of Egypt to die in the wilderness? For [there is] no food and no water, and our soul loathes this worthless bread.” So the LORD sent fiery serpents among the people, and they bit the people; and many of the people of Israel died.

A time came when the Israelites began to complain to God: they were inconsiderate of the many things that He had done for them in the past before the Egyptians and in the wilderness.

Throughout their journey, despite all the wonders of God that they saw, their hearts were hardened and they did not believe/trust God. Just a little challenge here and there and they begin to cry.

For many of us, our memories are so brief that we often forget the things that God has done for us just like the Israelites and this is the respite for disaster because it sets you up for a life of complaining, murmuring, doubt and fear and these are the elements that drive darkness into your life.

1 Samuel 17:36-37 Your servant has killed both lion and bear; and this uncircumcised Philistine will be like one of them, seeing he has defied the armies of the living God.” Moreover David said, “The LORD, who delivered me from the paw of the lion and from the paw of the bear, He will deliver me from the hand of this Philistine.” And Saul said to David, “Go, and the LORD be with you!”

You need to have a memory of the good things that the Lord has done for you. For David to be able to stand before Goliath, he remembered what God did through him and for him as he was tending his father’s sheep.

There are many things the Lord has done for you, but the same God that brought you out of that situation is still the same, whatever it is that you are confronted with you will get out of it. (Hebrews 13:8)

Malachi 3:6 ” For I [am] the LORD, I do not change; Therefore you are not consumed, O sons of Jacob.

Brother and sisters, there is nothing that pains God like a believer doubting His ability, power, and intervention in his/her life. No matter the pressure on you, please never take your eyes away from God.

Numbers 21:9 So Moses made a bronze serpent, and put it on a pole; and so it was, if a serpent had bitten anyone, when he looked at the bronze serpent, he lived.

This was speaking of what Jesus could do a thousand years later on the cross. Whoever looked at the serpent was healed but I guarantee you, there are some Israelites who instead of looking to the serpent looked at their problems while the solution was right in front of them and they died.

The temptation to look in a different direction is very high when you are under pressure but life is all about taking your life away from the negatives. Look to Jesus because He is the living word and let the word be on your lips, and mind, circulate your entire being with the word of faith.

1 Corinthians 10:13 No temptation has overtaken you except such as is common to man; but God [is] faithful, who will not allow you to be tempted beyond what you are able, but with the temptation will also make the way of escape, that you may be able to bear [it.]

You can go through whatever is challenging you because everything it takes to overcome it has already been placed on the inside of you by God. You have no room for doubt or regret because the faithfulness of God can never fail.

God will make a way but the question is; where is your faith and where have you put your eyes?

Put your eyes on Jesus because He has/will never fail you. Make up your mind not to look at the pain, focus on the problem, and the delay for it is there but the more you keep your eyes on the Lord, the more your problem melts away.

Romans 4:17 …—God, who gives life to the dead and calls those things which do not exist as though they did;

Whatever you are trusting the Lord for that is not there, call it forth, it is in Jesus. We arise from the dungeon by keeping our eyes on Him.

Everything you need to go over that situation, whatever you need is already available and is on the inside of you.

Read Matthew 14:22

The wave was there but as long as Peter kept his eyes on Jesus, he walked on the water amidst the storm. When his attention turned away from Jesus, he began sinking. There is nothing that you are going through that cannot be changed, Look to Jesus.
