Matthew 5:16 Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works and glorify your Father in heaven.

Jesus was emphasizing the measure of the brightness of light which is determined by your good works. It is releasing the life of Christ in you to the world.

In John 1:1-5, we see the life of Christ is the light of men.

John 8:12 Then Jesus spoke to them again, saying, “I am the light of the world. He who follows Me shall not walk in darkness, but have the light of life.”

Our life in time is full of moments of darkness which is why we need Light to walk through this darkness. (John 10:10)

When this Light is embraced, it sets in motion the law of the Spirit of life that overcomes the law of sin and death. Romans 8:2

We need to let our light so shine so that it is no longer accounted on us but to the working of God in us to His glory.

Ephesians 5:13 But all things that are exposed are made manifest by the light, for whatever makes manifest is light.

When you embrace the light of God, it exposes you to yourself. But as we know according to Romans 7:18, we cannot help ourselves except to yield to the Holy Spirit. (Romans  6:13)
Your degree of yieldedness determines how much your light will shine and this in turn determines how much of Christ you will reveal to the world. (John 14:21)

Isaiah 60:1-3
There are different measures of light and depending on which measure, your peers, kings, bosses, chiefs, etcetera will be drawn accordingly.

The intensity of the brightness of your light is determined by the quality of your fellowship and followership of Christ. John 5:19 and Psalms 23

So, Let your light so shine that men may give glory to the Father. Jesus showed us a perfect example in Philippians 2 from verses 5-11. He revealed His Father to us, so we need to reveal Him to the world.
