Acts 19:14-16 Also there were seven sons of Sceva, a Jewish chief priest, who did so. 15 And the evil spirit answered and said, “Jesus I know, and Paul I know; but who are you?” 16 Then the man in whom the evil spirit was leaped on them, overpowered them, and prevailed against them, so that they fled out of that house naked and wounded.

It is because of the name of Jesus that we have access to salvation. It is not just the mentioning of that Name that you will bring results. The devils did not respond to it when the sons of Sceva used it.

Psalms 138:2For You have magnified Your word above all Your name.

John 15:7 If you abide in Me, and My words abide in you, you will ask what you desire, and it shall be done for you.

At salvation, it is God who places us in Christ; that is when we abide in Him; it is the work of grace and the Holy Spirit and goes beyond the working of any man. (2 Corinthians 5:17, James 1:18, Romans 10:9).

However, the other part is the Word abiding in us. We have to play an active role for this to happen. It is not just us abiding in Him, which happened in our spirits, but for the Word to  abide in us, we need to be involved. This is where many believers fall short and their lives do not fully reflect the life of God in them.

We have to make this deliberate move of feeding ourselves with the Word so that we can ask God for anything and He does it.

As a believer, you have to constantly be intentional about putting the Word of the Lord in you.

God has given us three gifts: Jesus, the Holy Spirit, and the written Word to be able to come up with fruit that reflects our confession.

Ephesians 6:17 And take the helmet of salvation, and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God;

The Word of the Lord is what He uses to build, form, make, and bring into being every good plan in your life (Jeremiah 29:11, EPHESIANS 2:10) .

It is not enough for you to be filled with the Holy Spirit. You also have to provide something for Him

what to work with which is His Word.

If we do not give the Holy Spirit the Word in us, He has nothing to work with to bring the desired changes, transformations, or plans of God in our lives.

Read Psalms 119 – you’ll begin to see the importance of the Word of God in a believer’s life.

Hosea 4:6 My people are destroyed for lack of knowledge…

It is not the lack of scientific or geographical knowledge.  It is the lack of relevant scriptural knowledge to address particular issues in our lives.

God is not obligated to do for you anything outside the circumference of His Word. He is only accountable to His Word.

You may not quote scriptures word-per-word, but your prayers, desires, thinking, words, etc. must be within the confines of God’s Word; that is when Heaven will have the obligation to bring to pass whatever you say. Whatever flows out of you will be in perfect alignment with the will of the Father. His will is His Word.

This is what makes Heaven bow down and back up someone when he/she says; ‘in the Name of Jesus’. You must be a person who abides in Him and allow your words, choices, life, etc. to be controlled by the Word. Allow the Word to define the perimeters of your operations.

When such a person commands, dominion flows through them. Authority and dominion are compromised when a person’s life is not consistent with the Word of the Lord.

Allow God’s word to take root in your life and when it does, you will ask for anything and Heaven will back it up.
