DO YOU LOVE JESUS?

Jun 15, 2026

John 21:15-17 … “Simon, son of Jonah, do you love Me more than these?”…”Simon, son of Jonah, do you love Me?”…”Simon, son of Jonah, do you love Me?”…

Do you love Jesus, or are you one of those who follow Him because of what He is capable of doing?

The majority of believers are after God’s hand; they want what He is capable of doing rather than wanting Him. (Matthew 15:8)

John 6:26, 5:42

Jesus did everything He could, yet many still failed to truly love Him. He somehow became accustomed to people using Him, which describes the majority of followers today. We cling to God because we want something from Him, but His love has not been perfected in us.

Proverbs 17:17 A friend loves at all times,…

Many of us do not love God at all times. The children of Israel were exactly like this: the same people who witnessed the miracles God performed in Egypt and later promised to worship only Him demanded that the gods go before them when Moses delayed on the mountain. (Exodus 32:1)

Are you a genuine lover of God or merely a user? Are you one of those who disappear after receiving a miracle and only return when you need another one?

God is looking for those who can love Him even when they have nothing to show in the physical.

Luke 17:34-36
Why is one woman and one man taken and another left? Because one lived for Him, while the other sought personal recognition and glory.

Our appetite for the things of this world has become so great that our devotion is no longer fully directed toward Christ. That is why the Apostle Paul said:

“Examine yourselves as to whether you are in the faith…” (2 Corinthians 13:5)

We are the Body of Christ. If people want to see and touch Jesus, they must see Him through us. Our lives, businesses, marriages, careers, etc., should be rooted in Christ, for in Him we live, move, and have our being.

Everything about us must be saturated with Christ. We must allow His love to fill our hearts and become the reason behind everything we do, and it becomes easier to discern falsehood and resist manipulation. (Numbers 23:27)

Job 22:21-30

There is a place in God where everything you once considered valuable becomes like dust, and He becomes your gold and precious silver. When you reach that threshold, you can never truly lack.

Like Elisha, who refused Naaman’s gifts, he had found greater riches in God. My prayer is that we first find our pleasure in God so that we do not become slaves to material things.

1 Kings 3:3 And Solomon loved the LORD,…

1 Kings 11:1 But King Solomon loved many foreign women,…

How does someone begin by loving God and end up loving strange women? It is because Solomon failed to cultivate his personal relationship with God.

Much as his father, David, gave him many things, he could not give him his own relationship with God. He had to seek God for himself.

We need to dig our own wells so that we do not end up like Solomon. That is why David lamented: “How the mighty have fallen…!” Why? Because the mighty often think they cannot fall.

May God help us finish well. May seeking Him remain our priority, and may we find that place in Him that becomes our security against the things that cause others to stumble—a place where gold and silver lose their value, and God can entrust us with true riches.
