CRAVING FOR A DEEPER ENCOUNTER WITH GOD

May 23, 2023

There are certain things in this kingdom that cannot be taught or preached, you have to just catch them.

Philippians 3:10 That I may know him, and the power of his resurrection, and the fellowship of his sufferings, being made conformable unto his death;

I pray that the Lord will place in your soul a deep thirst and hunger to know Him: not by head knowledge but experiential.

As a generation, we need an encounter that will restore us to our place of relevance: to be the salt and light of the world because the standard has fallen so low (Matthew 5:13).

God loves to be pursued and sought after.  He places a very high price on every encounter and it is until He senses a genuine hunger and thirst that He can reveal Himself. He is not a discovery, He is a revelation. (Isaiah 55:1)

We need a fresh encounter with God. We cannot settle, relax or think we have arrived.

Psalms 42:3 My tears have been my food day and night, While they continually say to me, “Where [is] your God?”

Situations, people, and the environment around you are all questioning, ‘Where is your God, is your God real, is He alive?’ We need God more than we think.

The Lord is inviting us to a higher level of fellowship, prayer, and communion, and walk with Him so that we can encounter Him and solve people’s problems. This is the solution to all the cries and questions happening around us.

Numbers 11:15 If You treat me like this, please kill me here and now—if I have found favor in Your sight—and do not let me see my wretchedness!”

 Moses was overwhelmed and asked God to take him away until God promised to show him His hand. Imagine this is a Moses who had already seen such a mighty display of God’s power.

Sometimes we get excited with the arrogance and superficiality of quoting scriptures yet we know that we are bankrupt and empty. Instead of accepting we put on a show of spirituality and that is why the church is lacking.

While we are much aware of our legal position in Christ and what He did for us on the cross, very few of us have journeyed into the vital reality and truthfulness of that legality.

That is why the Holy Spirit must be reintroduced and encountered afresh in our lives like never before. This goes beyond speaking in tongues which is just an entry into experiencing Him.

We need an entirely fresh encounter with the Holy Spirit so that we may be metamorphosed into what God wants us to be.

There has to be a fresh understanding, longing, and craving for the person and ministry of the Holy Spirit in our individual lives then we can be used of Him to be a blessing.

1 John 1:1-3 That which was from the beginning, which we have heard, which we have seen with our eyes, which we have looked upon, and our hands have handled, concerning the Word of life— the life was manifested, and we have seen, and bear witness, and declare to you that eternal life which was with the Father and was manifested to us— that which we have seen and heard we declare to you, that you also may have fellowship with us; and truly our fellowship [is] with the Father and with His Son Jesus Christ.

These men got to a point where they held, felt, and experienced Him and that’s why they reached a point of surrendering all to and for Him.

2 Peter 1:16 For we did not follow cunningly devised fables when we made known to you the power and coming of our Lord Jesus Christ, but were eyewitnesses of His majesty.

These are not man-made stories or fantasies, Peter told the church things he had personally witnessed.

To every generation God reveals Himself. (Romans 2:11)

Acts 1:4 And being assembled together with [them,] He commanded them not to depart from Jerusalem, but to wait for the Promise of the Father, “which,” [He said,] “you have heard from Me;

The once timid apostles, who had hidden when Jesus was being crucified were something else after the day of Pentecost when they encountered the Holy Spirit.

May the Holy Spirit take us there.
