It’s only the Holy Spirit who will empower you to live this life the way God expects you to. Whatever demand Heaven is placing on you or the instruction the Holy Spirit is giving you, it has never been and will never be God’s intention for you to do it in the power of the flesh.

But it takes yieldedness to the Holy Spirit and His ministry for you to be able to fulfil and work out every instruction you are given.

Proverbs 24:16 For a righteous man may fall seven times And rise again, But the wicked shall fall by calamity.

This conscious awareness of the Holy Spirit and His ministry is what empowers every believer to live victoriously and consistently against any contradiction that might stem from our lives, the world or the devil.

All you’ve got to do is yield to His working; this is how the Christian life is lived because, without Him and His ministry, you will struggle. A man who falls will rise, not by his strength but the Master will draw him.

Revelation 3:1 …. “I know your works, that you have a name that you are alive, but you are dead.

If the devil wants to destroy any man or woman, he takes away that hunger for the Holy Spirit causing them to lean on their strength and experience, hence having a reputation of being alive yet dead.

They carry the structure, they have the movement, sing the right songs, pray the right prayers, preach the right sermons, etc., they have a form of it but no life!

Adam had a structure but no breath, it wasn’t alive until God breathed upon it and it became a living soul (Genesis 2:7). This is what the breath of the Holy Spirit does to a life. This must be a continuous experience for a believer. The Holy Spirit is the only key for you and me to live a fulfilled Christian life.

Psalms 51:11 Do not cast me away from Your presence, And do not take Your Holy Spirit from me.

David understood the place of the Holy Spirit in his life. He had everything you’ll ever pray for in this life: the name, wealth, etc. but when he came to that place, he fell and asked God to take everything else from him but not the Holy Spirit.

It’s easy to say those things, but have you ever arrived at that place in your walk with Christ where you deeply know that when His ministry diminishes in your life, life loses meaning?

Ephesians 5:18 And do not be drunk with wine, in which is dissipation; but be filled with the Spirit,

Every day of your life should come under the influence of the Holy Spirit; your senses are baptized with the Holy Spirit: and your decisions and choices are influenced by the Holy Spirit. This will make it easier for you to discern the will of God.

John 5:19 Then Jesus answered and said to them, “Most assuredly, I say to you, the Son can do nothing of Himself, but what He sees the Father do; for whatever He does, the Son also does in like manner.

Jesus meant that He was yielded to His Father and not in control. His Father was.

Let this month of April bring you to that place, no matter who you are or what vocation you are engaged in, you need to walk so closely with the Holy Spirit and allow Him to influence your life.

This means you need to engage three things that will endear you to the Ministry and Person of the Holy Spirit:

  1. Brokenness: Don’t defend yourself when the Holy Spirit convicts you of something or holds onto something He tells you to let go. Let God be number one in everything.
  2. Don’t grieve the Holy Spirit: When the Holy Spirit tells you not to do something, don’t do it because it’s always the little foxes that destroy the vine: Watch those little things. When you grieve Him, your fellowship with Him is destroyed much as the relationship remains.
  3. Don’t resist or fight the Holy Spirit:

Acts 7:51 “You stiff-necked and uncircumcised in heart and ears! You always resist the Holy Spirit; as your fathers did, so do you.

The Pharisees never witnessed any miracles.

They crucified Jesus and persecuted Christians.

The moment you resist the Holy Spirit, you become an enemy of the cross and the body of Christ. When you see brethren fighting each other, know they have resisted the Holy Spirit and can no longer hear Him.

The joy and the strength of living this life are locked up in fellowship with the Holy Spirit and yielding to His ministry.
