We have been called into a life of obedience. In this Kingdom, the proof of love is not the tears rolling down our cheeks, sacrifices, or even the praying and fasting, however spiritually good they are.

John 6:63 It is the Spirit who gives life; the flesh profits nothing. The words that I speak to you are spirit, and they are life.

If they are done outside the confines of obedience, they all amount to religious works that profit nothing. Anything birthed out of carnality will neither profit nor have any impact.

1 Corinthians 6:19-20 Or do you not know that your body is the temple of the Holy Spirit who is in you, whom you have from God, and you are not your own? 20 For you were bought at a price; therefore glorify God in your body ]and in your spirit, which are God’s.

We have been bought and belong to Christ. That is why He has become the Lord of our lives.

Now we need to walk the talk and let it become our lifestyle. So we need to get our instructions and directions from the Lord.

Is Jesus the Lord of your life or is He just a Savior, healer, provider, etc.?

All these titles that we give to God are beautiful, however, it is the Lordship of Jesus Christ over our lives as we permit Him willfully that will push us to the arena of authority.

Jesus derived His authority from the Father and would only do as He saw Him do because the Father was greater than Him. (John 5:19) He led a life of total submission to the will of the Father (Luke 22:24)

1 Samuel 15:22 So Samuel said: “Has the Lord as great delight in burnt offerings and sacrifices, As in obeying the voice of the Lord? Behold, to obey is better than sacrifice, And to heed than the fat of rams.

Just like Saul, many believers do not walk in the full dimension of obedience to God but delight themselves in offering sacrifices instead of following the general and individual instructions God gives them.

Are you taken up by just activities, or what delights your heart is discerning the voice of the Lord and walking in obedience?

Isaiah 66:2…“But on this one will I look: On him who is poor and of a contrite spirit, And who trembles at My word.

John 14:15 If ye love me, keep my commandments.

Trembling at the Word of God means running after His instructions. The proof of your love for God is how much you delight yourself in following His instructions.

Romans 1:5 Through Him we have received grace and apostleship for obedience to the faith among all nations for His name,

We have received grace and apostleship to bring men unto obedience to the voice of God.

What got man thrown out of the Garden of Eden was disobedience; man chose to go by other instructions in accordance with how he felt (Genesis 3). That is how we lost our place and led to the current trend of events.

Jonah 2:8 (KJV) They that observe lying vanities forsake their own mercy.

If you know what God is instructing you then do not come up with your own instructions and fix the name of God on it.

If we are going to will authority the way the early church did and even much more, we must ask the Holy Spirit to help us live as a disciplined church; one that is Holy and given to both the written and spoken instructions of the Holy Spirit. That is how we shall put the enemy far from us. (John 14:30)
