You must have a knowing that you are sustained by your spirit hence the need to build it.

Proverbs 18:14 (AMPC) The strong spirit of a man sustains him in bodily pain or trouble, but a weak and broken spirit who can raise up or bear?

There are two ways you can build up your spirit: By using the Word and by praying in the spirit.

  1. Using the Word.

 Colossians 3:16, Acts 20:32

As physical food builds the body, the Word is the food that builds your spirit. The speakings of Jesus are what build and strengthen your spirit. (John 6:63, John 17:17)

John 15:7 If you abide in Me, and My words abide in you, you will ask what you desire, and it shall be done for you.

There is a deliberate action that you must take to fill your spirit with the Word of God.

If you do not build your spirit by the Word to handle the things you are praying for, He will by His mercy withhold them from you because He knows that the blessing in the hand of a fool is a curse. Proverbs 17:16

So, instead of crying to God for something, major in building your spirit by the Word, not your memory.

Joshua 1:8 This Book of the Law shall not depart from your mouth, but you shall meditate in it day and night, that you may observe to do according to all that is written in it. For then you will make your way prosperous, and then you will have good success.

God will never ask you to do anything without empowering you; the ability and enablement come from meditating on the Word. That is where the seed for any miracle is locked up.

Proverbs 24:10 [If] you faint in the day of adversity, Your strength [is] small.

You will always have trouble and encounter challenges but if they overcome you, it means your strength is small: you did not take time to build your strength in the spirit by the Word. That is how Jesus overcame the devil. John 16:33, Matthew 4:2-4

  1. Praying in the spirit.

Jude 1:20 But you, beloved, building yourselves up on your most holy faith, praying in the Holy Spirit,

Many believers pray tongues of intercession but do not speak in tongues. We need to move from praying in tongues to speaking in tongues.

Remember, God has already given us everything in the spirit, and a weak spirit will find difficulty in releasing faith. We build ourselves in faith by praying and speaking in tongues.

Ephesians 6:10-11 Finally, my brethren, be strong in the Lord and in the power of His might. Put on the whole armor of God, that you may be able to stand against the wiles of the devil.

Jesus rose from the grave, took His armor, and gave it to you. The armor that you are having is one of an overcomer and it can never fail because it has been tried and tested.

The devil will attack your body with sickness or disturb your environment to gain access to your spirit because he knows that if you are strong in your spirit, the physical environment will align up to your heaven realities that Christ paid for.

Mark 5:26-28 (AMPC)

The woman with the issue of blood had done everything that she could in the realms of men and it all failed. When she heard the reports of Jesus healing people, she summoned all the energy and strength that she had so she could touch His garment.

Though she was weak physically, her spirit was strong. She would have died before the twelve years if she was weak in her spirit but she believed like David and kept speaking to herself, “If only I can touch the hem of His garment.” Psalms 27:13

When you start to sense fear, worry, discouragement, anxiety, depression, exhaustion, etc., then know that your spirit is under attack and that is when you ‘consider him that endured such contradiction of sinners against himself, lest ye be wearied and faint in your minds.’ Hebrews 12:3

There is a fainting that happens in the mind but even when things are stirred up, you ought to refuse to faint in your mind and consider what Jesus did for you on the cross.

Remember, we are not following a captain who lost but one who fought and won all His battles. There is no pain, disease, affliction, poverty, etcetera, that Jesus did not experience.  All our grief was put on Him but He shook it off, won, and gave us the armour of His victory. (Isaiah 53:3-5)

If Jesus, overcame, you too will overcome whatever you are experiencing now. That is why you must stand on the Word, insist, and demand what belongs to you. Mathew 11:12, John 19:30, Job 38:11
