When Elijah was about to be taken away, none of the prophets under his grooming qualified to take on the mantle of their master, yet all of them had the prophetic calling upon their lives. 1 Kings 2:1-14

How could it be that none of the hundred prophets of Elijah had what it took to receive the mantle of their master? God had to look for somebody outside their circle; a farmer? (1 Kings 19:19) This is a sad story but a lesson, that you can be close yet very far.

As you read the story, you will find the reason why the hundred were not chosen; there was laxity and none of them was placing in enough. God was searching for someone while the prophets were okay with whatever was going on around them. God is still looking for men and women He can employ in His service.

Matthew 22:14 “For many are called, but few [are] chosen.”

A hundred prophets were called but none of them did what it took to be chosen. There are actions you must take to graduate from being called to being chosen.

It is not enough to be called, strive to be chosen. Are you among the called or have you engaged in spiritual activities and exercises that will place you among the chosen?

Jesus called so many but He chose the twelve; this means that there is something they did that caused Jesus to pick them out. (Mark 3:13-15)

In other words, you can die with a title or calling without fulfilling it. (2 Timothy 2:20)

2 Kings 2:7,9 [7] And fifty men of the sons of the prophets went and stood facing [them] at a distance, while the two of them stood by the Jordan. [9] And so it was, when they had crossed over, that Elijah said to Elisha, “Ask! What may I do for you, before I am taken away from you?” Elisha said, “Please let a double portion of your spirit be upon me.”

Are you asking for material things or do you want what will transform your generation, to be a beacon of light in your community?

These hundred prophets were content with food, shelter and titles, moving around villages as sons of prophets yet totally irrelevant with zero impact. Only one man, Elisha, pursued the anointing.

Brethren, preacher, businessman, in whatever vocation you are in, have you arrived at a place where you think there could be something wrong? Gather every ounce of energy on the inside of you and go after the Master until you hear Him ask: “What do you want?”

2 Kings 2:14-15 [14] Then he took the mantle of Elijah that had fallen from him, and struck the water, and said, “Where [is] the LORD God of Elijah?” And when he also had struck the water, it was divided this way and that; and Elisha crossed over. [15] Now when the sons of the prophets who [were] from Jericho saw him, they said, “The spirit of Elijah rests on Elisha.” And they came to meet him, and bowed to the ground before him.

A stranger came in and took what was meant to fall upon the prophets because those who were meant to take the position were content with the title.

I provoke you to cry to the Lord, tell Him; “Lord, whatever adjustments need to be done in my life so that I can qualify for what will change my generation, Lord, do it”.

2 Chronicles 16:9 For the eyes of the LORD run to and fro throughout the whole earth, to show Himself strong on behalf of [those] whose heart [is] loyal to Him. In this you have done foolishly; therefore from now on you shall have wars.”

God has a need. He is looking for a man whose heart is sold out to His cause in every aspect of life.

I provoke you brothers and sisters to shake off the dust, get out of the status quo and go after God until what can change our generation falls upon our lives. Let God do whatever alignment needs to take place in our lives.
