The reason why the patriots of faith succeeded was that God was with them.

There is no other formula to success except aligning with the will of God: Jesus shows us the best example;

John 5:19 Then Jesus answered and said to them, “Most assuredly, I say to you, the Son can do nothing of Himself, but what He sees the Father do; for whatever He does, the Son also does in like manner.

John 5:30 I can of Myself do nothing. As I hear, I judge; and My judgment is righteous, because I do not seek My own will but the will of the Father who sent Me.

All that counts in this journey of faith is walking with God: being where He is and doing what He does.

I cry to the Master to give us ears that hear and eyes that see that we may not go on journeys that He has not permitted us; running with our ambitions.

Doing the will of the Father begs for a life of contrition, brokenness, a walk of humility day by day, and inquiring of Him, “Lord, which is the way?”

1 Samuel 30:1-3 Now it happened, when David and his men came to Ziklag, on the third day, that the Amalekites had invaded the South and Ziklag, attacked Ziklag and burned it with fire,

[2]and had taken captive the women and those who were there, from small to great; they did not kill anyone, but carried them away and went their way. [3]So David and his men came to the city, and there it was, burned with fire; and their wives, their sons, and their daughters had been taken captive.

David did not presumptively rise to attack the enemy because he knew that he could only win in his heart when God is in it: it had nothing to do with his military experience and weapons.

David inquired of the Lord because he knew that if God does not go with him, he would lose it. That is why the Bible described him as the man after God’s heart (1 Samuel 30:8, Acts 13:22).

What does it mean to be a man after God’s heart?

It means aligning yourself with the will of God: only doing what God wants you to do and going where He wants you to go.

God is the director and we are the actors in this script: we do not do what is not in the script.

2 Corinthians 3:5 Not that we are sufficient of ourselves to think of anything as being from ourselves, but our sufficiency is from God,

Your life is no longer your own: you belong to God. Therefore, before you engage in any activity, inquire because if He is there, you will succeed.

May God help us not to be moved by our desires but to be guided, directed, and prompted by Him.
