Ephesians 5:8,15 … [15] Look carefully then how you walk! Live purposefully and worthily and accurately, not as the unwise and witless, but as wise (sensible, intelligent people) (AMPC)
Living purposefully, worthily and accurately means living according to the divine purpose. We can never do this without the help of God.
Remember, we know in part and prophecy in part, meaning that every decision we make is based on knowledge. That is why it is easy to err, because most of the decisions we make are based on what we know.
Proverbs 3:5-6 [5] Trust in the LORD with all your heart, And lean not on your own understanding; [6] In all your ways acknowledge Him, And He shall direct your paths.
We all have understanding, but that alone is not sufficient for us to make accurate choices. We cannot function by mere knowledge and understanding; we need something deeper—something beyond what our physical eyes can see. Otherwise, we risk becoming victims of men who are in falsehood and lies.
However, this calls for us to acknowledge God in all our ways and in what we do. Acknowledging Him means being humble enough to ask for help.
The Bible encourages us in James 4:13-14 to be humble and not arrogant as though we own tomorrow. Such is the heart of a man who acknowledges God, knowing they aren’t in control of their lives but God is. That is why we must have fear and reverence for Him to be able to attract His help.
Acts 27:1-12 (GNT)
The officer in charge made a decision based on expertise: he listened to the ship’s captain and the owner, not Paul.
Just as the officer, many of us have followed the advice of captains and not God, forgetting that every instruction and piece of advice He gives us is because He has seen the end. (Isaiah 46:10)
Nothing happens to a believer without God warning them. Most of the tears that we cry today aren’t because God didn’t warn us, but because our flesh (our will) was so strong that we didn’t listen and obey.
Ephesians 2:10 For we are God’s [own] handiwork (His workmanship), recreated in Christ Jesus, [born anew] that we may do those good works which God predestined (planned beforehand) for us [taking paths which He prepared ahead of time], that we should walk in them [living the good life which He prearranged and made ready for us to live]. (AMPC)
God has already prepared for us; our work is to discover what He has prepared. We can never live accurately unless we know the plans that God has for us and desire His will. It all starts with surrender, if we want Him to be involved in our lives at all.
Before God gives us His good, perfect and acceptable will, we must surrender to Him, and He will then open our eyes to His will and direct us.
I ask you, therefore, that Romans 12:1-2 be your prayer this week.
STAY BLESSED AND HIGHLY FAVORED, WE LOVE YOU.
